John Moorhouse (January 2012): You’ll need to try this new Thai restaurant. The three rooms have plenty of seating for a good sized party or intimate dining and the restaurant is two minutes walk from car parks opposite Sainsbury’s or on Damside Street.
There’s a good sized menu, with many variations of spicy or non-spicy meals, some curried, some with peppers.
Four of us dined there and had a very good meal, beautifully prepared and with portions just the right size, nicely presented. Starters, Mains, a bottle of wine and coffee, just over £100. The service was discreet and polite, watchful and attentive. The decor good and welcoming. We dined early, talked on afterwards, were perfectly happy with our night out and didn’t feel pressured to complete and leave. Top marks.

Tina + Larry (May 2009): We were lucky enough to find this place, and nab the last vacant table on Saturday May 17th when we visited Lancaster for the weekend. The food was the best Italian my partner and I have had in years - I won't go into details of what we ate - it was ALL good - as was the wine, ambience and service. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting good Italian food and wine at a reasonable price.

John Moorhouse (February 2013): I brought my wife to dinner at NICE, as it was her birthday.
We started with two large glasses of nicely chilled Gargannega Pinot Grigio and then ordered our meal from the specials board. We both started with Sliced duck breast glazed with orange and Cointreau, served with salad. Plenty to eat, beautifully cooked, nicely presented and not over fussy. The flavours were excellent and suited the juicy duck perfectly. For Mains we both ordered Exotic fillet of pork topped with ginger, mango and Marsala wine. Brilliant. Everything full of flavour and enough of it. We didn't need a sweet, so finished with coffee. Thanks to Chef John Patricio and to restaurant manager Andrew Lees for faultless service. The birthday girl was very pleased.

Victoria Lamb (October 2014) Eaten here quite a few times, but more recently we went just after 5pm. We were the only customers there as it was early, but the gentleman serving us was a star. He was pleasant and fun! He came and asked for our orders with a smile and served us all night. We were there for 2 hours chatting and gossiping. The food was excellent. The cobbles as a starter are great! Pizza was delicious and the cake...well... you can't go wrong with Diam bar cake and Snickers cake! Well done, will be back again!

John Moorhouse (February (2014): Took my wife here on Valentine's Night. Very booked up so we got a 5.30 spot. After we'd been in 5 minutes the place was full and buzzing. Recent work on the décor is good and has helped the acoustics, Service was on the ball, mostly by Robert, the courses were nicely timed and beautifully cooked, the wine was excellent. The lady was pleased. Top score to Robert and the team. Good to see that the two brilliant staff from Quite Simply Food have been kept on. They're very good at what they do.

Al (December 2011): Seriously good food and wine, excellent service and prices very reasonable. We will be going back!
JL (September 2010): We recently visited the Sun Cafe in an evening which was a change for me and my friends who normally just have breakfast or a soup on a Saturday.
We were all blown away by the quality of the food and the relaxed feel of the place.
The original dishes on the varied menu were well planned and complimented the choices of wines on offer.
The classic dishes we chose had a consistently good quality and used local produce to best effect.
The transformation of the cafe into restaurant really works and we will be going back soon...
Jo Clark (April 2010): I have eaten at the Sun Cafe in the evening two or three times over the last 18 months.  Both the food and the service have been great every time.  The prices are reasonable, too.  Would definitely recommend!

Tommy from Silverdale (March 2011), I am not a vegetarian (apparently this is an ancient tribal word for 'bad hunter'). However I went in once and was pleasantly surprised; plenty of choice; friendly staff; comfortable surroundings.
I have since eaten there a number of times, reasonable prices and generally busy. I would go there more but still need meat & fish at times, but they could certainly make me a part convert.
Try it, you won't be disappointed.
PS great great cakes, also gluten free if needed.
