Chris Satori (February 2014): I eat here a lot. (About once a week for years now). The food is very well prepared, with full meals and many lighter bites too. The choice of coffees is superb and the service is excellent with a very capable staff team. Reasonably priced. Very pleasant environment with acres of window and a charming shaded patio for warmer days. Full disabled access if you can manage a bit of gravel at the entrance and a long, gently inclined ramp inside. The acoustic of the building tends to make it a bit noisy, so not good for socialising if you have hearing problems. Excellent selection of cakes and sweets too. Probably the best of the (many) garden centre eateries in the region, foodwise. Very popular too.

The Barn at Scorton
Garden Centre and gifts with a big cafe area with sun roof and vines growing overhead. Also outside garden dining area and garden function suite. Licensed with meals. Full disabled access.

Chris Satori (July 2014): A nice run out - I like the vegetable broth, and perhaps a glass of wine or a good coffee. It's very pleasant. For wheelchair access to the cafe it's best to park down in the big carpark and enter through the lower end if it's open (saves a lot of narrow ramps down + back up).

Friendly family run farm, cafe and very pretty campsite with stunning views across the bay. Chickens roam around contentedly and white doves roost along the eaves of the old barn. The cafe serves a range of delicious homemade dishes, several of them from their own organic salt-marsh reared lamb and free-range eggs (which are also for sale here). There's a children's animal area with resident pigs Rodney and Cassandra, pigmy goats, rabbits and baby lambs and calves in Springtime. Well worth a visit on a sunny (or rainy) day - it's a lovely cycle ride along the canal and seashore from Lancaster (about 6 miles).

Max Johnson (May 2013): We go regularly during the summer to walk the dogs on the dunes, watch the skylarks and have a bite to eat at the farm cafe. When we go, I usually have a Breakfast - eggs, bacon. a couple of sausages and toast - first class. My wife generally has a sandwich - fresh ingredients, freshly made and tastes like it. Their more substantial fare uses their own meat where appropriate. Their home-made cakes are as you'd expect; very good indeed. You can sit inside, or outside where there is a wnderful view across the Bay - which is sometimes frustratingly obscured by large vehicles, but, hey!'s a working farm. Children and adults love going to see the animals. A really pleasant morning or afternoon out for us, and if you're a visitor to the area I'd say it's a must to visit. Well signed, and just off the main road between Morecambe and Carnforth.

Ship Hotel, Overton
9 Main Street, Overton LA3 3HD tel. 01524 858231
Elizabeth Ashby writes (20/1/02) "There is much more to this place than serves food. it is only one minute walk from the start of the Sunderland Point tidal road, which hundreds of people come every year as it is a fantastic spot for bird watching.
"The Ship itsself has a very interesting birds' egg collection containing thousands of eggs from all over the world and collections of eggs based soley on British birds. there are also a few stuffed birds all of which is believed to be a hundred years old.
"You have to agree that as popular as bird spotting is surely the birds of sunderland point and the eggs of the Ship Hotel make this place a must for bird lovers."
Thank you, Elizabeth. We of course remind all our readers that the egg collection is an old one, and wild bird egg collecting is now illegal in the UK.
